Cremations

Cremations are the most popular form of funeral, and can be religious or non religious.

What happens at a Cremation?

If you choose a cremation, one of the first things to decide is what sort of service you would like and where to hold it. You might want to hold it the crematorium or, if you prefer, you can hold the service in another place, like a church, and then have a shorter service called a ‘committal’ at the crematorium.

A cremation funeral service can last anywhere between 30 - 45 minutes, involving hymns or songs, eulogies and readings, and prayers. Funeral services can be as formal or as informal as you would like. If you have feel you may need a longer service, extra time may be requested at an extra charge from the church or crematorium.

At the end of the service, during the committal, the coffin may be hidden behind a curtain or door. If you would like the coffin to be left on view until everyone has left, please let us know.

Cremations are also available as Direct Cremations, a simple cremation process that takes place without a funeral service or ceremony.

What happens after a Direct Cremation?

Following a Direct Cremation, the ashes of the deceased will be returned to the family to do with as they wish. We can also arrange for the ashes to be scattered or buried.
